Understanding ecstasy

The word ecstasy is derived from the (ancient) Greek ekstasis based on ek ‘out’ + stasis, literally ‘standing, stoppage’, from sta- base of histani (or histemi) ‘cause to stand’.

In short, the word ‘ecstasy’ means: stand (or stop) out (or outstanding, or stop standing). To put it even simpler, ecstasy means: a changed state, i.e. a state different from the previous one.

This happens in two ways:

1.   The shape of a state, i.e. its identity (read: self) is altered from inside. This either increases (i.e. via fission) or decreases (i.e. via fusion) its internal energy.

1.        The new shape (i.e. its identity) acquired is an ecstasy. That internally generated ecstasy is experienced as positive if the energy of the new state is increased (i.e. as a sudden surge and when the self is ‘fired up’). That’s because the (relative) increase (or charge) of energy is experienced as elation (or enlightenment, indeed as accelerated speed, to wit, a ‘high’). The degrees of relative energy increase are self-represented as the various degrees (or intensities) of happiness (i.e. joy, bliss, ecstatic rapture and so on).

2.         An internally generated ecstasy is experienced as negative if the energy of the new state is decreased (i.e. as a sudden loss or drop, i.e. as a reverse surge or trough when the self is ‘cooled down’). The relative decrease (i.e. discharge) of energy is experienced as (energy) delation (i.e. as drag or heaviness, indeed as deceleration, to wit, as a ‘low’ or depression). The degrees of relative energy decrease are self-represented as the various degrees (or intensities) of unhappiness (i.e. sorrow, misery, ecstatic agony and so on).

Mystic ecstasy, experienced as transcendental, i.e. transcending the self but actually a personally generated mental simulation, and its pay-off, rapturous (wholly overwhelming) joy, happens if and when the self is almost completely attenuated/shrunk so that the mystic rides high on the ‘flow’ of relatively unlimited (i.e. by her self) energy. She either as it were jumps out of her skin/self (i.e. shrinks her self (via concentration, indeed, condensation) to a (non-relative) point, and which accelerates to c) or she is blasted out of her self from outside so that but a (non-relative) point of her self remains, and which accelerates to c.
